Children’s Grieving Program

It Is Okay to Grieve

A support program for children of a deceased Illinois Master Mason father/guardian and/or their spouse to provide resources and an outlet to express grief in a healthy way.

About children’s grieving program:

  • For children and/or young adults of a deceased Illinois Master Mason father/guardian and/or their spouse.

  • Provides memory boxes containing grief support storybook, seed packet, and education material to each child and/or young adult.

  • Memory box provides a hands-on activity to facilitate the ongoing grieving process and addresses fear of forgetting the deceased.

  • Case manager will provide resources and check in monthly.

Requirements:

  • Child and/or young adult must be 21 years of age or younger.

  • Must be a child and/or young adult of a deceased Illinois Master Mason father/guardian and/or their spouse.

  • The surviving relative/parent/guardian must provide mailing address and the ages of children and/or young adults to receive memory box.

Lodge’s role:

  • Refer children and/or young adults of a deceased Illinois Master Mason father/guardian and/or their spouse to IMCAP.

  • Complete the referral form below and email it to imcap@ilmason.org.

What to expect:

  • IMCAP will contact surviving relative/parent/guardian to gather more information about child and/or guardian and their needs.

  • Grief related resources will be provided to surviving relative/parent/guardian, as needed.

  • IMCAP will prepare the memory box containing grief support storybook, seed packet, and educational material for each child and/or young adult.

  • Memory box material will be tailored to child and/or young adult’s age.

  • IMCAP will ship the box with contents to each child and/or young adult.

  • Case manager will communicate with family each month to assess needs.

  • If financial assistance is needed, transfer family to appropriate IMCAP program for further assistance.
