Illinois Masonic Lodge-based program that provides community children with learning disabilities, autism, or educational needs with learning grants. The learning grants can be used towards specialized learning programs, software, equipment, and supplies related to the child’s unique learning needs.

 

To qualify, the child needs to:

  • Be in high school or younger.

  • Child must have a defined learning need.

  • Must reside in the State of Illinois.

  • No Masonic family connection is required to apply.

  • Needs to receive a referral from an Illinois Masonic lodge.

  • Family must demonstrate financial need  

  • Required to provide payment for service, equipment, software, or supplies.                                                        



How to Request a Learning Grant?

The child’s parent or guardian will need to do the following as part of the Specialized Learning Grant (SLG) application process:

  • Download and complete the fillable form or print the PDF version of the application located at the bottom of the webpage.

  • Sign the Compliance Agreement and Release of Information Sections on the Application.

  • Send the completed application by email to IMCAP@ilmason.org.

  • Request an Illinois Masonic Lodge to provide a Referral for your child’s Specialized Learning Grant application.

    • Contact IMCAP if you need a referral to an Illinois Masonic Lodge.

    • Provide the Lodge member with the name of your child, birthday, and the reason for applying for the Learning Grant.

    • The Lodge will provide a referral on behalf of your child’s learning need and will send an email to IMCAP.

Before completing the document, save the form (PDF format) to a location on your computer or phone (for example: Desktop or Documents) You must save the file to your computer or phone first and then fill it out. Do not complete the form in your web browser or your data will NOT be saved.

  • Click on SLG Application Online Fillable button below. This will open the form in your web browser.

  • Right click on form, select “Save As”.

  • Save the form to a location on your computer or phone.

  • Open the saved form.

  • After you have filled out the form, save this completed form to your computer or phone.

  • Send the COMPLETED form to imcap@ilmason.org.

Lodge’s Role in the Application Process?

  • An Illinois Lodge member can refer a child to the Specialized Learning Grant lodge-based program if they know of a child from a community with learning challenges in need of a special learning program, software, or equipment.

  • The Lodge will write a Referal Email:

    • The letter can be written about “Referring” the child to the Program by the Master or Secretary of the Lodge.

    • Send the letter by email to IMCAP@ilmason.org.

    • The Referral Email will include:

      • Vote by the Lodge or the 3 Principal Officers for child to receive the Learning Grant.

      • Name of the child and primary parent/guardian

What to Expect from imcap After Applying:

  • IMCAP Program Coordinator will review the application and schedule a phone call to discuss learning needs with parent.

  • Will receive referrals to relevant services related to needs.

  • May need to provide additional documents related to your child’s learning needs and challenges.

  • An Identification Number will be placed on Grant Request Report to protect your and your child’s identity.

  • IMCAP will provide Grant Request Report to the Board of Managers (BOM) to review during their monthly meeting.

  • The BOM will determine if the grant application is approved and the amount to be awarded.

  • A letter documenting the BOM decision regarding approval will be sent to Lodge Leadership.
