Supporting the Trades

A grant program for Lodges to use to provide scholarships to young adults attending a vocational or trade program.

About vocational training grants

  • $1000 per Lodge in unmatched funds

  • Can be used for tuition or equipment for students attending vocational or trade programs

  • May request funding be divided among several students or only 1

student eligibility requirements

  • Must be 25 years old or younger

  • Admitted to or enrolled in a vocational or trade program (two year or certificate program)

  • U.S. citizen or legal resident

  • Lodge may request that grant be used for tuition or needed equipment

Lodge’s role in the application process

  • Select potential recipient(s) and ensure the eligibility requirements are met

  • Lodge’s Secretary must complete an application for each recipient(s) and send to IMCAP

  • Present the certificate(s) to the recipient(s), preferably at a Lodge meeting or function

How to apply

Lodge must complete an application for each recipient

  • Download and complete the Word or fillable PDF version of the application below.

  • Lodge Master and Secretary must sign the application.

  • Send completed Education Grant Partnership application by email to imcap@ilmason.org; or fax 217-529-0242.

  • Save the form to a location on your computer or phone.

  • Open the saved form.

  • After you have filled out the form, save this completed form to your computer or phone.

  • Send the COMPLETED form to imcap@ilmason.org.

What to expect after applying

  • IMCAP will review application

  • If potential recipient is not eligible, Program Coordinator will inform the Lodge’s Secretary

  • Application will be presented to the Board of Managers (BOM) during monthly meeting

  • BOM will review and determine if scholarship funds will be provided

  • Letter documenting BOM decision regarding approval will be sent to Lodge’s Secretary

  • Certificate will be sent to Secretary within 30 days of approval

  • If tuition: IMCAP will send check to educational institution on behalf of recipient and Lodge

  • If equipment: IMCAP will purchase and ship equipment to recipient

Examples of Vocational and Trade Programs

Students that are enrolled in a program that will result in an Associate’s Degree or Certificate are eligible for the Vocational Training Grant.

Examples of Vocational and Trade Programs may include, but are not limited to,

  • Nursing Aides

  • Dental Assistant

  • Radiology

  • Veterinary Assistant

  • Firefighter

  • Paramedic

  • Police Officer

  • Mechanic

  • Cook

  • Welder

  • Plumbing

  • Truck Driver

  • Paraprofessional

  • Electrician
